Just installed a Motorcraft PF1 electric fuel pump in my 2004 Ford F-150 FX4. Overall, it was a very easy installation. The only thing that I didn’t like was that the instructions said to remove the fuel tank, which I did not have to do. It would have been helpful if the instructions said “if you do not have to remove the fuel tank, do not remove the fuel tank” or something to that effect.

Other than that, the installation was very easy. The pump works great and has already saved me time and money by eliminating the need to take my truck to the mechanic for a fuel pump replacement.

Buying Guide for a best fuel pump for 7.3 Powerstroke

Buying Guide for the best fuel pump for 7.3 Powerstroke:

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the best fuel pump for 7.3 Powerstroke diesel engines will vary depending on the specific needs and configuration of each engine. However, there are several factors that you should consider before making a purchase:

1. The Type of Pump

There are two main types of fuel pumps: mechanical and electronic. Mechanical pumps are driven by gears, while electronic pumps are powered by electricity. Electronic pumps are generally considered to be more reliable and efficient than mechanical pumps.

2. The Volume of Fuel

Fuel pumps come in different volumes, so you will need to choose one that is compatible with the size of your engine.

3. The Pressure of the Fuel

The pressure of the fuel plays a role in determining the type of pump that is best suited for your engine. High-pressure pumps are necessary for engines that require a high volume of fuel at high pressure.

4. The Fuel Source

Some fuel pumps are designed to work with a specific type of fuel, such as gasoline or diesel. You will need to choose a pump that is compatible with the type of fuel that your engine uses.
